Sock Puppets

Tonight we made sock puppets! Everybody drew a name out of a basket and then made a replica out of that person using a sock puppet. We then enjoyed delicious mini donuts as we got to meet our own mini me's! Next week we are hoping to have a bonfire and roast some hot dogs at McAllister's if the weather permits. Here are some pictures from the evening!

Capture the Flag

Tonight we met up with Fish Creek ward and played capture the flag! We had a great turn out and it was a lot of fun! And I heard we won! Although Fish Creek ward might say otherwise... ha ha. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures! But overall it was a lot of fun! We finished with freezies, lemonade and the most delicious rice crispy squares I have ever tasted!

Walmart Scavenger Hunt

Today we did a Walmart scavenger hunt! We split into groups of 4-5 and were each given a list of tasks that we needed to complete. Each task was worth a number of points. Some examples were..go to the McDonald's and ask how much a slice of cheese costs, then buy it. Interesting fact, a slice of cheese costs 11 cents. But I don't believe the task was to eat the cheese.. .ehemm Kyle. Also another example was to see how many people can fit into one jacket, each person was worth 1 pt. Do the hokey pokey and you gain 1pt for every person that joins in. Hug a red head. Get a picture of of everyone in high heels.  The group with the most points at the end of the night won. They won glow-in-the-dark bubbles to be exact. haha.. which may or may not have worked. Congrats to Charles team for winning with a total of 69 points! Here are some pictures from last night.

Egg Drop

Spruce Meadows Ward! You scared me last night! At about 7:05 it was only Tyson and I at FHE. At about 7:15 there was maybe 7 people there. I really didn't think anyone was going to show! By the end of the night there was 30+ people! One of our best turn outs! One of our goals this year is to start on time! So next week let's try and be there at 7! As for the activity, we split into 6 groups and had to build some sort of contraption only using paper, toothpicks and a milk cartoon. Most of the teams did quite well! We started by dropping it from the top of a ladder but when that wasn't high enough we put the ladder on top of the stage and dropped it from there. Congrats to Charles' team and Taylor's team for making it the farthest!

Spruce + Fish = Spish

Today we joined up with Fish Creek Ward! I'm not going to lie.. I was a little skeptical to what they had planned for this evening after our little activity on April 1st. Someone in Fish said to me "Did you hear about the prank that Confed Ward did on our ward?" Haha. I don't know if he was trying to trick me or what.. Also someone else (who obviously knew it was us) told me that they were devising a plan to do something to our cars as well! Anyways for the activity we were planning on making snowmen but the snow wasn't the best for that so instead we played volleyball! There was a great turn out and it was a lot of fun! Here are a few pictures from the evening.

Dice Game with CONFED

Well last week was April 1st and we all know what happened then ;) no need to go into any details! This week we were graced with the presence of Confederation Park Ward. They came all the way from the NE and they still beat most of our ward there! We had over 60 people show up for fhe which was great! I hope everyone had the opportunity to meet new people and maybe get a few numbers?? :) We played the dice game where Megan Baker took the title of dice game champion! Then we ate ice cream sundaes and mingled. Our ward is getting around! Next week we are planning on having a flag football game with Fish Creek Ward so lets hope the weather is in our favour!

Jump, Jive, An' Wail

Ladies, ladies! Where were you tonight?! I thought that the girls in the ward would be allll over this! Tonight Bishop Comfort had a little blast from the past and taught us how to JIVE! We still had fun and   I think it's safe to say that many of the boys left a little stronger this evening from flipping us girls around! Here are some of the SWEET moves we learned and mastered! Oh yes.

Human Battleship

March 18, 2013

So human battleship...haha. This was sort of a funny activity. We set up a volleyball net and draped sheets over it so that you could not see what was happening on either side. We then split everyone into two teams, turned off the lights and told everyone to lay down on the ground as if they were a "ship". Each team had a ball and on "fire" they launched the ball to the other side. If you were hit with the ball then you had been "hit". The team to sink all the ships first was the winning team. We played this for about 20 minutes before we called it quits! The winning team was left with 4 people left. After that we had fun playing volleyball and foursquare. Thanks for the great turn-out! 30 people! Next week we will be learning how to JIVE with a special guest instructor! haha.. you are in for a real treat!

Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader

March 11, 2013

Tonight was great! Minus the mishap with the projector but overall fun night! We played three rounds of Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader. We even had three elementary aged kids join us! We split into three teams and each team played one game. The team that was able to make it the farthest, won. To start, a contestant from the playing team came up, chose a topic and then attempted to answer the question. If they did not know the answer than they could turn to the elementary kids for help. If they got the answer wrong than the team did not advance towards "1 million dollars". It was a close finish but team 2 came through from knowing "What did Georgie Porgie do to make the girls cry?"-kissed them. Overall fun night!  Next week join us for some Dodgeball Battleship!
